Job Summary

You will provide student service and administrative support to faculty and trainees in the University of Michigan Genome Science Training Program (GSTP) based in the Department of Biostatistics in the School of Public Health. GSTP faculty are world leaders in genetics and genomics research with a particular focus on questions in human health and disease; they span twelve departments in three schools. The GSTP offers interdisciplinary training for doctoral students that combines the quantitative sciences with genetics and genomics. In its 30 years, the GSTP has trained >150 individuals who have gone on to become leaders in academia, government, and industry. You will report to GSTP Directors Drs. Michael Boehnke and Sebastian Zoellner. The GSTP was recently renewed by the NIH for the next five years.

This position is at 50% effort (20 hours/week).

Responsibilities*Administrative support for the GSTP Director, faculty, and trainees Office administration: maintain email groups, schedule in-person and virtual meetings, update web page content, and process reimbursementsEvent support: provide support for hosting on-site and off-site meetings, including accommodations, venues, meals, and audiovisual supportAssist with periodic grant reports to NIH and grant renewal applications 
 Required Qualifications*High school degree2 or more years of work experience in an academic departmentExcellent written and oral communication skillsExperience with event planning and supportStrong organizational skills, and ability to multi-task, take initiative, and exercise judgment in setting prioritiesProficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and with Adobe Acrobat

 Work Locations

This position may be eligible for some remote and/or flexible work opportunities at the discretion of the supervisor. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change depending on the needs of the GSTP and the GSTP directors.

Additional Information

The salary range for a full-time (100% effort) position would be $49,266 to $60,858; for this 50% effort position, the salary range is $24,633 to $30,429. 

Background Screening
