Administrative Assistant
Description We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to manage and maintain the art collection at our nonprofit organization based in Eden Prairie, MN. This role is a part-time, six-month contract position, perfect for someone with a passion for the arts and a desire to help promote and preserve cultural assets. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and inventorying their collection, researching pieces to uncover their history and significance, creating descriptive and educational labels, and assisting with overall inventory management. Key Responsibilities: + Art Collection Management: Oversee and maintain the nonprofit's art collection, ensuring proper storage, care, and organization of all artworks. + Research: Conduct detailed research on individual art pieces to uncover historical, cultural, and contextual information. + Label Creation: Develop clear and engaging labels for collection items that enhance understanding and appreciation for viewers. + Inventory Management: Accurately manage and update the inventory of all art pieces, ensuring records are up to date. + Documentation: Create and maintain organized, comprehensive documentation for all pieces in the collection. + Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to align art initiatives with the mission of the nonprofit and to support broader program goals as needed. Requirements Qualifications: + Strong interest in and passion for art and its preservation. + Background or experience in art history, museum studies, library sciences, or similar fields preferred. + Exceptional research skills with the ability to synthesize and present complex information clearly and concisely. + Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. + Experience creating labels or written descriptions for artworks or similar items is a plus. + Familiarity with inventory management systems or cataloging tools is beneficial. + Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines. Work Hours and Contract Information: + Part-time role requiring 15–20 hours per week. + Flexible schedule, with potential for some remote work depending on tasks. + This is a six-month contract position with the possibility of extension.
