Duties and Responsibilities: The Georgia Department of Driver Services is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Admin Support 3 to serve the CDL Programs Unit. This position is typically the first point of contact for the general public and stakeholders regarding commercial driver’s license medical certifications. Under limited supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clerical functions in a high customer interaction/fast-paced environment. The duties include inspecting and analyzing documentation, compiling data, conducting research and triaging customer issues. Incumbents will be expected to process Medical Certification data captured from the National Registry II and accurately update driver records. The responsibilities include a strong knowledge of policies, rules, statutes and federal law pertaining to the issuance, renewal, revocation, and reinstatement of a Georgia commercial driver’s license. Incumbents will be expected to research case information, analyze data, and make determinations of medical certifications by applying appropriate guidelines. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for responding to management and customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner, in accordance with the core values of the Department of Driver Services. The incumbent will be expected to maintain a positive attitude and be receptive to change in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent will be responsible for investigating customer complaints, presenting his or her findings to management and making recommendations to management on the most appropriate course of action. The incumbent will be expected to serve on task teams, workgroups, and projects. The incumbent will be expected to assist with training events and participate in various outreach efforts. Competencies Needed: • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. • Strong attention to detail. • Ability to interact with individuals from various backgrounds and psychological conditions. • Ability to assist in conducting training sessions. • Ability to interpret and apply federal and state laws, rules, regulations and guidelines. • Ability to make decisions with limited supervision. • Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in teams. • Ability to manage multiple tasks, file accurately. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of progressively complex office or administrative experience. Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications the preferred candidate should also possess three or more of the following: • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university • Four (4) years of experience in a professional customer service environment handling multiple tasks and telephone calls • Four (4) years of experience processing customer/patient records, claims, or cases • Four (4) years of experience interpreting state and/or federal rules and regulations and One (1) year of experience interpreting and reviewing medical terminology. Conditions of Employment: In-state travel is required for employees in this job. Week-long, overnight travel is also required. The selected candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to travel statewide. Selected applicants must also be able to physically maneuver commercial vehicles of all types to conduct vehicle inspections. This position may also involve bending, lifting, and fueling commercial vehicles, performing outdoor activities, working in inclement weather, working holidays and working around moving vehicles. Upon acceptance of the position, the selected applicant would be required to possess a minimum of a Class A CDL with a P & S endorsement within twelve (12) months of hire.
