Position Summary: The University Student Teacher Supervisor for the Science Departments represents SUNY Cortland while overseeing student teachers, facilitates a strong university-school partnership, and mentors and evaluates student teachers. Starting Salary: $4500 per 3 credit hour course Major Responsibilities: + Fulfillment of all responsibilities/duties of a supervisor as outlined in the Student Teaching Handbook, department orientation, training and university communications. + Contact and meet with student teachers and host teachers either before or at the beginning of the student teaching placement. + Make regular visits, including written observation reports, and confer with each student teacher after observations. + Confer with each student teacher after each observation and provide both oral and written feedback during the post-observation conference. + Maintain regular communication with each host teacher regarding the progress of student teachers. + Complete evaluation work in Watermark and submit quarterly grades for student teachers. Required Qualifications: + Bachelors degree. + Availability to fulfill job obligations during standard school hours (applicants with concurrent full-time commitments, including P-12 school personnel, are not eligible for the position of a SUNY Cortland student teaching supervisor). + Experience in secondary school settings. + Familiarity with New York State Teacher Certification requirements and learning standards. + Masters degree, previous mentoring, or supervisory experience. + Current or past teacher certification in Science.
