Amergis is seeking an Adaptive PE Teacher to work ~20hrs/wk
Unlike some states, Texas does not issue a separate Adapted PE certification. Instead, APE is considered a specialized assignment that requires
Documented training in Adapted Physical Education, such as:
+ Coursework in APE
+ Professional development hours
+ Experience working with students with disabilities
+ University APE practicum or fieldwork
Districts typically require proof of APE training before assigning you to the role.
Highly recommended (but not required)
These make you more competitive:
+ Special Education EC–12 certification
+ APE coursework or endorsement from a university
+ Experience writing or supporting IEPs
+ Experience with motor assessments (e.g., BOT - 2, TGMD - 3)
