This position will report to the AFM Senior Manager and be part of the Finance Team at Allstate Canada Group (ACG) in the Corporate Actuarial team. The AFM team focus is on three main accountabilities: The economic capital model, supporting the Financial Condition Testing (FCT) update, and financial loss planning. Further, with an increase in climate risk and its regulation, the AFM team will be a key contributor to monitoring and assuring compliance with new regulations on this emerging issue. Day-to-day work requires close collaboration with stakeholders in the actuarial, corporate risk and finance teams along with the external Appointed Actuary’s team. The AFM team members are eligible for Allstate’s Actuarial program, which offers future opportunities to rotate within other actuarial roles during your career (Pricing, Reserving, Data Science, Claims Intelligence and Risk Analytics).
As an Actuarial Consultant, your strength will be the technical knowledge and coordination skills you bring in actively participating in the capital modelling scope of work and your ability to learn about new emerging issues such as climate risk. We are looking for a confident individual with strong analytical and communication skills along with a great ability to prioritize projects and manage tight deadlines. An ambitious individual who is eager to influence and drive the results for the organization would be a great fit for this role.

Ensure to meet high quality and reliability standards for the Economic Capital ModelAct as a Subject Matter Expert in cross-functional projects related to the Economic Capital Model and Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) reportFunction as a liaison between risk-related business units and with the parent-company capital modelling teamProvide required services to support economic capital model updates, maintenance and Financial Condition Testing (FCT) coordinationResponsible for financial loss planning, analyzing and monitoring trends, and coordinating with pricing and claim departments to ensure the plan is reflective of expectationsAssist in the implementation of new processes to address the latest risk regulations such as climate riskCommunicate complex analyses and results to colleagues and business partners and provide recommendationsEnsure adherence to CAS, the CIA Standards of Practice, and regulation and participate in the planning and assignment of the team’s tasksQualifications :
Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science or a relevant disciplineMinimum of 5 years of Property and Casualty experience in an analytical position, preferably in corporate actuarial. ACAS/FCAS preferred, minimum 5 CAS exam or equivalentStrong knowledge of CIA Standards of Practice and regulatory requirements and good knowledge of corporate actuarial concepts, including FCTStrong communication skills and comfortable presenting to various audiencesSolid capital modelling background and efficient at using Microsoft applications.Ability to adapt and utilize new ideas, techniques and opportunities for improving effectiveness, performance, and productivityBonus qualification:
