**Job Summary and Qualifications**
**POSITION SUMMARY** **:**
**The Accreditation Program Coordinator (APC) serves as the day-to-day lead and supervises the development, implementation, and organization of the Advanced Hip and Knee Replacement and Rectal Cancer Certification programs. The APC will coordinate the efforts between surgeons, hospital administration and staff while tracking the progress of the programs and identifying areas requiring attention. The APC is responsible for all program management, report generation and review, process improvement, patient satisfaction, facilities review, and administrative activities within the facility.**
**ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** **:**
**· Lead regularly scheduled meetings with hospital administrators, physician champions and key staff.**
**· Develop standardized care plans with the surgeons including pre-op, post-op and discharge orders.**
**· Serves as liaison between physicians, staff, hospital administration, patients and families on the implementation and operation of the accreditation programs.**
**· Ensure appropriate pre-op preparation for each patient prior to surgery.**
**· Develop and oversee the creation of pre- and post-op teaching classes, including the coordination of teaching materials with the physicians’ office.**
**· Tracking and measuring surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction, identifying areas that require improvement.**
**· Provide key statistics at leadership team meetings and to other stakeholders as necessary. Statistics may include: outcomes, patient satisfaction, complications, hospital-wide survey results, nurse call back results, etc.**
**· Oversee the development and on-going editing of unit-specific forms and patient education materials including: nurse discharge checklists, patient guidebooks, wall hangings and other standardized materials.**
**· Responsible for updating orders, databases and other documentation related to the accreditation programs**
**· Develop community education**
**· Develops and maintains relationships with rehabilitation facilities, local EMS providers and key PCPs.**
**· Create and oversee an ongoing quality improvement plan.**
**· Responsible for attending and facilitating the joint replacement and rectal cancer program meetings**
**· Performs care according to standards with consideration of hospital policy procedures and mission as assigned.**
**· Ensures program policy and procedures are reviewed every 3 years per policy.**
**· Advances personal growth through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-services and workshops.**
**· Facilitates the learning experience of staff members.**
**· Facilitates communication between all disciplines.**
**· Maintains close relationship with Orthopedic and Cancer Registries to collaborate needs.**
**· Provides pre-operative and post-operative education to patients and families.**
**· Works with physicians and quality leaders to ensure successful accreditation surveys every 2-3 years**
**· Performs other duties as assigned.**
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES** **:**
**Establishes priorities and makes independent decisions of a complex nature. Interfaces directly with administration, physicians, public, staff, and all members of the health care team. Represents unit and administration. Regular and predictable attendance is required.**
**Must be able to demonstrate understanding of national patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures as required by both HCA and St. David’s North Austin Medical Center.**
**Preferred: Computer skills**
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE** **:**
**Required: Clinical Background – Registered Nurse with a minimum of two years of experience.**
**Graduate from an accredited nursing program or current enrollment in an Alternative Entry MSN program.**
**Preferred: Orthopedic experience preferred**
**LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES** **:**
**Required:** **Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. FT/PT/PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must:**
**• apply for Texas RN license within 60 days from hire**
**• obtain current TX RN license within 6 months of application for TX RN license**
