Our Finance team ensure we are accountable and on track to company strategies. Their responsibilities include forecasting, in-season management, and analysis across business units. From sales and margin to operations and expenses, our Finance team provides consistent, accurate information to cross-functional partners to support PetSmart's growth initiatives.

In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval). About the Job

ROLE SUMMARY

The Accounts Receivable Staff Accountant provides essential accounting and administrative support for the company’s receivables processes. This role is responsible for executing daily billing, collections, and cash application tasks, supporting both the merchandise and marketing vendor-funded programs and the PetSmart Veterinary Services business. The position partners with internal and external business contacts to ensure accurate and timely processing of receivables, contributing to the company’s financial health and operational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare and send monthly billings for merchandise, marketing programs, and PetSmart Veterinary Services clients.Apply cash receipts and support daily collections activities.Communicate with internal teams and external business partners to resolve billing and payment issues.Support the Company’s store purchase order and coupon collection programs, including related audits.Prepare daily and month-end journal entries to support departmental processes.Complete general ledger reconciliations on a monthly basis.Assist with billing and receivables management for PetSmart Veterinary Services, including invoice preparation, payment tracking, and account reconciliation.Complete assigned ad hoc projects and support process improvement initiatives.Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.QUALIFICATION, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCERequiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.1-2 years of Accounting or Finance experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, sum-ifs, etc.).Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.Effective communication and organizational skills.PreferredExperience with accounts receivable processes in a retail or veterinary services environment.Familiarity with ERP or accounting software.Ability to analyze data and recommend process improvements.
