Accounts Receivable Collections Associate (12 Month Contract)

About the Role

Responsible for maintaining the entire Cash Application process and maintenance of various Accounts Receivable general ledger accounts, including accounting policy compliance.  Reviews and interprets financial reporting requirements, rules and regulations. Responsible for the adherence and ownership of the Accounts Receivable accounting and auditing policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities 

Daily and ad hoc tasks including:Download bank statements for various currenciesPost payments received and apply discounts, where appropriate, from the previous business day in the ERP systemAdd new customers and update addresses in the ERP upon request, and regular monitoring and maintenance of customers in the ERP to avoid duplication or incorrect information for export compliancePerform credit checks on customers to assist management on determining amount of downpayment or net payable termsDeposit cheques from customersPrepare journal entries as requiredPartner with Program Management department to understand details of past due balances where necessary, and contact customers for past due invoices

Weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks including:Report to Director of Finance the top overdue aging invoicesDistribute Accounts Receivable aging report, and meet with the Customer Service department to obtain details on overdue invoicesUpdate customer payments received for Consultant Distributor Representative reportsIntercompany invoicing for various allocations and chargebacksReconcile monthly General Ledger accountsPrepare Accounts Receivable Aging AnalysisHandle inquiries from internal and external auditors, including Sarbanes Oxley requirementsAssist Financial Planning and Analysis team where requiredAd hoc tasks as requested by the Program Accounting Manager

Required Capabilities

Desired Education and Experiences 

Requires broad theoretical job knowledge. Bachelor’s Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 4 years of prior related accounting experience
