Accounts Receivable Clerk
Description As an Accounts Receivable Specialist, you will play a pivotal role on the team. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: + Customer Invoicing and Payments: Process customer invoices in the ERP system, ensuring alignment with shipping department paperwork and agree customer payments against open receivables while tracking customer advance payments. + Collections Administration: Administer the collection process by following up with customers, maintaining collection software, and collaborating with the sales team to ensure timely payments. + Cross-Departmental Coordination: Lead weekly/monthly collection meetings with multiple departments to monitor and drive collections progress. + Collections Management: Drive collections efforts by utilizing internal personnel resources and holding teams accountable to meet collection targets. + Credit Analysis and Monitoring: Conduct research on new and existing customers to aid credit decisions. Propose credit limits for new customers, monitor customers’ financial status to mitigate risks, and leverage credit monitoring tools to recommend changes to existing limits. + Credit Hold Decision-making: Assess and make credit hold decisions for slow-paying customers to prevent potential financial losses. + Journal Entries and Account Reconciliation: Prepare monthly closing journal entries and reconcile Accounts Receivable-related general ledger accounts to maintain accurate financial records. + Financial Research: Address accounting and financial inquiries through data research and analysis to provide timely and accurate information. + Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes to maximize efficiency. + Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational needs. Requirements Requirements of the Position: + Proven experience in accounts receivable or a similar financial/accounting role. + Familiarity with ERP systems and strong proficiency in processing invoices and payments. + Strong knowledge of credit analysis, collection processes, and financial risk assessment. + Excellent organizational and collaboration skills to coordinate cross-departmental meetings and hold team members accountable. + Ability to monitor, research, and make informed decisions regarding customer credit and payment activities. + Proficiency in preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and addressing financial inquiries. + Aptitude for optimizing processes and driving continuous improvement efforts. + Solid understanding of general accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls. + Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with customers, internal teams, and stakeholders. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
