Accounts Payable Specialist – Fiber Infrastructure (Contract‑to‑Hire) Location: Columbus, OH Pay: $25–$30/hour Employment Type: Contract‑to‑Hire About the Opportunity + Our client is a rapidly growing fiber infrastructure company building new fiber routes into major data centers throughout the Columbus market. + The company is looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist who must have construction industry experience. This is not optional—candidates must have worked directly in AP for construction or construction‑related operations. + The role manages all vendor billing, AP workflows, and onboarding tied to fiber deployment projects across the Columbus area. Responsibilities + Process all vendor and subcontractor invoices tied to fiber construction projects. + Review invoice accuracy for labor, materials, subcontractor work, and change orders. + Work closely with construction managers and field teams to reconcile job costs and confirm work completed in the field. + Manage end‑to‑end vendor onboarding, including collecting W‑9s, COIs, banking information, and compliance documentation. + Maintain organized and up‑to‑date vendor files for all active projects. + Communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies or request missing information. + Assist with month‑end close, cost tracking, and reporting for fiber deployment into data centers. Required Qualifications + Must have direct construction industry experience supporting Accounts Payable. Candidates without construction AP experience will not be considered. + Experience processing high‑volume construction invoices and working with job‑costing or project‑based billing. + Ability to collaborate closely with field operations, project managers, and procurement teams. + Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. + Proficiency with Excel and comfort navigating ERP or accounting systems. + Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, construction‑driven environment. Preferred Qualifications + Accounts Payable experience in telecom, fiber‑optic construction, or utility infrastructure is a major plus. + Familiarity with underground fiber builds, aerial construction, or low‑voltage/telecom contractor billing. + Knowledge of lien releases, COIs, three‑way matching, and construction compliance workflows. + Experience with NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, or construction‑focused ERP tools. Work Environment + Supports construction operations across the Columbus market, including data‑center builds. + Fast‑paced, project‑driven environment with frequent communication across construction, engineering, and field teams. + Contract‑to‑hire role with on‑site or hybrid expectations depending on client needs. + Candidates must be located in or near the Columbus area.
