Accounts Payable Specialist
Job Title: Accounts Payable SpecialistJob Description

Manage the end-to-end accounts payable cycle, from invoice receipt through final payment. Utilize OCR tools for efficient processing, apply accurate coding to all invoices, and ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.

ResponsibilitiesEnter invoices into the accounting system using OCR tools.Apply accurate coding to invoices, including expense categorization and approval routing.Match invoices to approved purchase orders and resolve billing discrepancies with Procurement.Review and approve employee expense reports, ensuring compliance and correct account coding.Prepare and execute payment batches, including ACH, check runs, and wire transfers.Monitor payment success and ensure accurate reflection in the general ledger and AP module.Investigate and resolve invoice and payment issues with internal teams and external vendors.Build strong working relationships across the Finance team to support process improvements.Ensure adherence to AP policies and procedures, including vendor onboarding and travel/expense policies.Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations and AP reporting.Support audit requests by gathering required documentation and data.Essential SkillsProficiency in accounts payable processes and full cycle accounting.Experience with NetSuite ERP system is highly preferred.Strong problem-solving skills for handling complex invoices.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.Additional Skills & QualificationsCuriosity and willingness to thoroughly learn the business.Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Openness to learning new systems and contributing ideas for workflow improvement.Strong analytical skills or a desire to develop them further.Ability to identify and resolve issues independently.Professional communication skills for effective collaboration across the organization.Comfort working in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.Work Environment

This is a hybrid position, requiring three days in the Chicago office and two days working from home. The office is located in the Board of Trade Building.

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
