Accounts Payable Control (Associate)

Summary of Position:

The Accounts Payable Control Associate plays a critical role in overseeing the disbursements process across Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, and Dollar Tree (Canada), ensuring payments are processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with internal controls. Responsibilities include executing daily and weekly Pay Runs, processing manual checks, transmitting ACH/EDI/SCF files to banks, and reconciling positive pay and wire transactions with multiple financial institutions. A strong emphasis is placed on accounts payable (AP) controls, including three-way matching, segregation of duties, and regular reconciliations, to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity. The role requires close coordination with internal teams, external auditors, and vendors to resolve payment inquiries, manage exceptions, and uphold compliance standards. By effectively managing the payment workflow from initiation through reconciliation, this position ensures operational efficiency, reduces financial risk, and supports the overall integrity of Dollar Tree’s financial operations.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform Daily Pay Runs in the United States for Dollar Tree & Family Dollar.

Perform Pay Runs on a weekly basis for Dollar Tree (Canada).

Perform weekly swift and daily SCF Pay Runs.

Perform intercompany Pay Runs.

Process manual checks, if required.

Transmit ACH/CTX/CCD/EDI/SCF files to the bank.

Transmit Positive Pay files to the bank.

Verify and match checks to invoices.

Distribute checks to vendors.

Place stop payments on checks.

Void checks and ACH transactions.

Create daily fund distribution reports.

Process wires using Wells Fargo Bank, Bank of America, RBC and Kyriba.

Request cashier’s checks.

Work the Disbursements in-box.

Work with Internal Audit and KPMG Auditors when needed.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.

4 to 6 years of financial analysis experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Desired Qualifications:

Ability to build relationships and influence cross-functionally.

Experience in a high-growth, multi-site retail environment.

Detail-oriented with excellent planning and organizational abilities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with Alteryx and Power BI.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, change-oriented culture.
