Job Description: AP Staff Accountant
An Accounts Payable (AP) Staff Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the accounts payable functions of an organization. This includes processing invoices, reconciling vendor accounts, and ensuring timely payment of bills while maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures. Below is a detailed job description for this role:
Responsibilities:
+ Invoice Processing: Review, verify, and accurately record invoices in the accounts payable system, ensuring proper coding and compliance with company standards.
+ Payment Management: Prepare and process payments, including checks, wire transfers, and ACH transactions, meeting payment deadlines.
+ Vendor Account Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile vendor statements to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
+ Expense Reporting: Process and review employee expense reports, ensuring adherence to company policies.
+ Account Analysis: Investigate and resolve issues related to accounts payable, liaising with vendors and internal departments as needed.
+ Month-End Closing Support: Assist with accounts payable accruals and reporting as part of monthly and yearly closing processes.
+ Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including sales tax and 1099 reporting requirements.
Requirements
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounts payable or a related role.
• Proficiency in invoice processing, account reconciliation, and coding invoices.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as Oracle, QuickBooks, or SAP.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with vendors and team members.Preferred Qualifications:
