Accounts Payable Accountant - Onsite | Washington, DC

Beacon Hill Financial is working with a reputable organization in the DC area to identify an experienced Accounts Payable Accountant to support their growing accounting team. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Washington, DC, offering the opportunity to be part of a stable and mission-driven environment.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on, full-cycle AP experience, a strong understanding of manual invoice processing, and a proactive approach to vendor communication and internal collaboration. Candidates who are detail-oriented and experienced in fast-paced environments are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

Review and process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, appropriate approvals, and timely entry

Match purchase orders and receipts to vendor invoices and resolve any discrepancies

Prepare weekly payment runs including checks, ACH, and wire transfers

Maintain accurate vendor records, including tax forms and payment information

Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on outstanding issues

Assist with month-end closing tasks, including journal entries and accruals

Ensure compliance with organizational policies and accounting standards

Provide support for year-end 1099 preparation

Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve payment inquiries

Participate in AP process improvement projects and other assigned duties

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in a manual AP environment

Familiarity with Dynamics SL (Solomon) or similar ERP systems

Strong proficiency in Excel (including data entry and reconciliation)

Non-profit or union accounting experience is a plus

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred
