Job Overview

As an Accounting Assistant at the newly opening Hyatt Place Toronto Airport, you will be an integral part of the Finance team, ensuring accurate, timely, and professional handling of accounts payable, cash management, and financial reporting tasks. You will support hotel operations by maintaining compliance with company policies, assisting with inventories, and contributing to a seamless flow of financial processes—all while reflecting Hyatt’s values of care, integrity, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Vendor Relations

Process vendor invoices by matching with purchase orders and goods received, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards. Enter approved invoices into the accounting system (Great Plains) and forward for timely payment within established aging guidelines. Reconcile vendor statements and respond courteously to supplier inquiries. Prepare accruals and journal entries at month-end for accurate financial reporting.

Cash & Banking Duties

Collect, count, and reconcile daily cashier deposits with the Property Management System. Monitor property cash floats, safes, and due backs, conducting spot checks and reconciliations as required. Prepare and process petty cash reimbursements and coordinate change orders with the bank. Track and report any cash overages or shortages, escalating concerns to management as necessary.

Inventory & Cost Control

Assist in the counting of operational and Food & Beverage inventories, ensuring valuation is updated with current market pricing. Support quarterly counts for operating supplies (china, glassware, silver, and linens). Collaborate with the Food & Beverage team to ensure accurate cash outs, CC reconciliations, POS checks, cost tracking and reporting.

Reporting & Compliance

Effectively manage & control accounts receivable, outstanding receivables & payroll processing.. Maintain accurate files, registers, and reports in compliance with corporate accounting standards. Ensure strict adherence to company financial policies, approval limits, and internal controls.

Collaboration & Support

Work closely with the HO Finance team and other departments to ensure smooth operations. Assist with additional accounting and administrative tasks as assigned by management. Uphold Hyatt’s professional standards through clear communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to guest and colleague satisfaction.

Qualifications & Requirements

Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (Community College or University). Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or a multi-unit environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. High level of accuracy, analytical ability, and attention to detail. Proficiency with accounting software (Great Plains experience preferred) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with vendors, colleagues, and management. Ability to remain flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced hotel environment, including during a new opening. Posted September 7, 2025
