This role is ideal for someone with solid accounts experience, excellent attention to detail, and a hands-on approach to financial processes. The successful candidate will be a key part of a collaborative finance team, helping to manage day-to-day transactional accounting and supporting wider month-end and audit duties.
This is a full-time, office-based position offering variety and responsibility across both purchase and sales ledger tasks. You'll play a vital role in keeping the finance function running smoothly, working closely with colleagues across the business and helping to meet key deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate records of customer and supplier accounts
Handle double-entry bookkeeping and day-to-day transactional processing
Process purchase ledger invoices and credit notes with attention to coding accuracy
Raise and manage sales invoices; support with basic credit control duties
Reconcile customer and supplier statements
Chase overdue payments via phone and email to ensure aged debts remain within targets
Process supplier payments and employee expenses
Perform bank reconciliations and support balance sheet reconciliations
Assist with VAT calculations and provide support for VAT submissions
Help prepare documentation and respond to queries during audits
Provide general support during month-end close
Requirements:
2+ years' experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar role
Confident working across purchase and sales ledger functions
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables, etc.)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
Positive, proactive attitude with a strong team spirit
Experience with debt recovery or external collection teams is a bonus
Comfortable working Monday–Friday from the office full-time
