Accounting Technician

Position: Accounting Technician (Payroll-Focused)

Location: Gardnerville, NV (On-site preferred; hybrid flexibility after training)

Type: 12-month contract-to-hire

Schedule: Full-time or part-time (24–40 hours/week)

Pay: $22.29 to $26.75/hour, based on experience and system proficiency

What You’ll Do

Process bi-weekly payroll for 324 employees using PaylocityReview and verify timecards, approvals, and personnel action notices (PANS)Coordinate with HR on garnishments, direct deposit changes, and 401(k) contributionsAdd and manage payroll codes tied to grants and funding sourcesRun supplemental batches for stipends and committeesAssist with payroll reconciliation and deduction auditsSupport document tracking and reporting for compliance and reimbursementCollaborate with accounting and HR teams to ensure smooth operations

What We’re Looking For

Experience processing payroll for 50+ employees (100+ preferred)Familiarity with Paylocity, ADP, Paycom, or similar systemsUnderstanding of payroll workflows, deductions, and complianceBasic to intermediate Excel skills (SUM, IF, formatting, organization)Strong attention to detail and ability to work independentlyWillingness to learn and grow into broader accounting responsibilitiesBonus: Experience in government, nonprofit, or grant-funded environments

Education

No formal degree required, but practical payroll experience is essentialCandidates with accounting degrees and interest in payroll are encouraged to apply

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.29 - $26.75/hr.
