Accounting Technician

Salary Range: $19.35 - $26.66
Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Controller, performs routine accounts payable activities including, processing invoices, matching invoices with purchase orders, obtaining approvals for payment, and scheduling invoices for payment. Assist in general ledger account analysis. Posts, balances, or adjust general ledger accounts requiring the use of independent judgment Reconciles various financial reports such as, bank reconciliations, registry, cash-flow reports etc. Opens and distributes mail. Communicates with other departments regarding accounts payable activities, transactions and accounts payable status. Must work well under stress or tight deadlines. Must work well with supervisors, co-workers and vendors.District Responsibility:

Assures the accurate assignment of costs into the general ledger. Prepares monthly journal entries. Prepares a variety of detailed accounting analysis and reconciliations. Assist Controller with year-end working papers and/or schedules of analysis for independent auditors. Define accounting problems and recommends effective solutions. Assists department directors and/or vendors regarding accounts payable questions and effectively communicates findings either verbally or in writing. Responsible for performing tasks related to accounts payable including, correct general ledger coding, matching invoices to purchase orders, scheduling payments of invoices, filing and maintenance of accounts payable documents. Reconciles vendor statements and independently manages discrepancies with vendor payments, efficiently and timely. Other Duties Assigned by SupervisorEssential Functions:

Must be able to sit and view a computer screen for long periods of time and have manual dexterity sufficient for data input.Position Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Experience: Two or more years' experience required in an accounting environment, including accounts payable. Accrual accounting and accounting terminology experience required. Certifications: None necessary. Skills/Ability: Excellent verbal skills required. Exhibits the ability to organize multiple assignments and follow through with accuracy. Knowledge of basic mathematical principles used in accounting and financial record keeping. Exercises good judgment under stress. Demonstrates initiative, tact and poise. LVMC reserves the right to modify the minimum requirements depending on the needs of the organization.
