Whether it’s by herding cattle, working under the hood of a vehicle, crafting custom log furniture, or welding, the men and women involved in MCE programs while incarcerated leave prison knowing their future is as bright as they choose to make it. The*Accounting Technician*performs accounting responsibilities for all Programs and subprograms within MCE. Accuracy and timeliness of both revenue and payments to vendors are imperative to the continued economic viability and therefore the continuance of the Division and programs. In coordination with other MCE accounting and administration staff, the MCE Accounting Technician helps to coordinate the daily activities of the accounting office. This position trains, supervises, and evaluates the inmate accounting clerks in the MCE accounting office. /The hourly rate of this position will increase by $1.00 per hour or 2.5%, whichever is greater, effective July 1, 2025 and July 1, 2026, in accordance with HB13. Pay increases for union positions are contingent upon a ratified collective bargaining agreement./ *QUALIFICATIONS* The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to: * 2 years job-related college or vocational training in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance * 3 to 4 years of job-related work experience. // Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.// *BENEFITS* Your service is rewarded with competitive compensation and generous* *State of Montana Benefits.
