Accounting Supervisor; POC Accounting)
Description Our client, a growing and well‑established construction-focused organization, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead a team of three and play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s financial direction. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role offers a dynamic blend of financial reporting, operational accounting, and strategic collaboration. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Financial Oversight + Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering collaboration and continuous development. + Oversee the full financial reporting cycle, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely reporting. Core Accounting & Operational Finance + Perform regular bank reconciliations and prepare detailed cash flow and deposit reports. + Monitor project costs and maintain work-in-progress (WIP) tracking and reporting. + Maintain and update fixed asset schedules, including depreciation and capital reporting. + Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger. + Prepare monthly and quarterly internal financial statements for leadership review. Compliance, Tax & Audit + Prepare and file all required tax reports while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. + Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits. + Partner with external accountants to manage annual tax filings and related compliance needs. Payroll, Billing & AP/AR + Support payroll operations, including commission calculations, reconciliations, and acting as a backup processor. + Oversee billing, collections, and accounts payable to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and strong operational controls. + Ensure timely deposits and accurate recording of incoming payments. Strategic & Cross-Functional Collaboration + Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting cycles. + Maintain organized and compliant financial records, enforcing document retention policies. + Collaborate closely with senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives and enhance overall accounting processes. Requirements Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. + 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in construction or manufacturing environments. + Experience with Percent of Completion (POC) accounting required. + Demonstrated stability and tenure throughout career history. + Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting principles. + Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis tools). + Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Sage, or NetSuite preferred.
