Job Description
This Staff Accountant role provides hands-on transactional and operational accounting support during a period of internal coverage shifts. You will step into day-to-day accounting and administrative gaps, focusing on accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and sales tax activities while helping to reduce workload for the core accounting team. The position emphasizes problem-solving, adaptability, and responsiveness over heavy technical accounting, and requires someone who can operate with minimal training in a fast-paced, manufacturing-focused environment.
Responsibilities
Record and reconcile accounts payable and expense transactions accurately and on time.Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank accounts, ensuring that bank data is properly matched and discrepancies are resolved promptly.Maintain sales tax congruency between NetSuite and Avalara, and handle sales tax renewals as needed.Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice processing, three-way matching, payment processes, and collections support.Assist with resolving payment issues and transactional discrepancies across vendors, customers, and internal teams.Prepare financial statements and support the month-end closing process as needed, including light journal entry support where appropriate.Provide general ledger support on a light basis, focusing on transactional and operational tasks rather than complex technical accounting.Manage and respond to a high volume of emails, prioritizing tasks and maintaining clear, professional communication.Complete forms, credit applications, and other accounting-related documentation accurately and in a timely manner.Follow up on outstanding items with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure completion and resolution.Act as a catch-all support resource, taking on general tasks that fall through the cracks and helping to keep accounting operations running smoothly.Support bank audits and coordinate with external tax accountants by providing requested information and documentation.Act as a support hub for various accounting-related needs, taking on overflow work from the accounting team during periods of tight bandwidth.Operate with minimal training, quickly learning systems and processes to provide immediate value.Assist wherever bandwidth is needed in accounting operations, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to help across different task types.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Poway, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
