Accounting Manager - UIC Commercial Services
**Overview** UIC Commercial seeks an experienced Accounting Manager to provide leadership in accounting operations, maintain the integrity of financial reporting, and support organizational growth. The position is responsible for managing a team of accountants, directing the month-end close process, and partnering on strategic financial initiatives. **Responsibilities** Essential functions will include: + Supervise daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable and general ledger. + Responsible for entire P-Card process from collecting statements through issuing manual check. + Manage escheatment process. + Coordinate on audits and liaise with external auditors and tax consultants. + Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets. + Support budgeting and forecasting activities. + Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations. + Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. + Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support business decisions. + Other job duties as assigned. **Qualifications** Minimum Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred). + 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role. + Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). + Experience with accounting software such as Sage Timberline and general ledger and advance knowledge of MS Excel. + Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. + The ability to work accurately and independently while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines. + Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications: + Previous experience in job/project-based accounting. + Previous experience working for Alaska Native Corporations. + Previous experience with Sage Timberline. Physical and Mental Demands: + Employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and to speak and hear. + The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. + The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Working Conditions: + Work is primarily performed in a professional office setting. + Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional extended hours required to meet reporting deadlines or special projects. + Position requires regular use of a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment. + Work may involve periods of sitting for extended time, data entry, and reviewing detailed financial documents. + Occasional travel to subsidiary or project sites may be required. + The role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. \#LI-WW1 Applicants may be subject to a pre-employment drug & alcohol screening and/or random drug screen, and must follow UIC’s Non-DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requirements.
