Job Description
We are seeking a proactive Accounting Manager to oversee complex reports, analyses, and financial processes, focusing on GAAP accounting, audit readiness, and technical accounting. This role is perfect for those who enjoy delving into financial statements, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions. The position is fully remote with occasional travel required to Germantown, MD.
Responsibilities
+ Review and interpret large volumes of financial data, reports, and analyses; independently identify issues and propose solutions.
+ Resolve bottlenecks in P&L and balance sheet details to ensure accurate reporting.
+ Assist with the development and refinement of the operating plan.
+ Lead audit efforts by preparing schedules, addressing auditor requests, and identifying risk areas.
+ Strengthen internal controls and ensure processes comply with GAAP standards.
+ Support technical accounting matters, including documentation and application of GAAP.
+ Review and approve reconciliations and journal entries.
+ Oversee accounting workflows, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
+ Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to systems and processes.
+ Work with ERP and financial planning systems, with Oracle and Hyperion experience being strong advantages.
+ Utilize reporting tools to analyze trends and support decision-making.
+ Provide recommendations for better practices across accounting, audit readiness, and financial operations.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and streamline processes.
Essential Skills
+ Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting.
+ Experience in audit support, risk assessment, and process improvement.
+ Comfortable working independently with minimal direction.
+ Ability to break down complex financial reports and identify root-cause issues.
+ Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with Oracle or Hyperion systems preferred.
+ Experience with publicly traded companies is preferred.
Work Environment
This is a 100% remote position with occasional travel to the Germantown office as needed. The role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to work independently without heavy direction.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Germantown, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr.
