Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to oversee corporate tax functions and financial reporting processes for our organization in Houston, Texas. This role involves managing compliance with federal and state tax regulations, collaborating with third-party tax vendors, and providing strategic tax guidance to support business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and tax management, combined with excellent analytical and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with external tax service providers to prepare quarterly federal and state income and franchise tax estimates and provisions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Review tax filings and communicate results to the parent company’s tax leadership as needed.
• Manage daily corporate tax operations, including addressing tax notices, processing payments, and handling tax-related correspondence.
• Offer operational tax guidance, oversee federal and state income tax audits, and negotiate favorable resolutions with tax authorities.
• Develop and implement strategies for tax planning, focusing on the implications of federal and state income taxes to align with company objectives.
• Prepare income tax provisions in compliance with US accounting standards, conduct tax research, and produce technical memorandums.
• Analyze data related to unclaimed property issues, including liability assessments, voluntary disclosures, audit defense, and asset recovery.
• Create ad hoc financial reports and analyses, providing insights and supporting management with special projects.
• Contribute to cross-departmental initiatives and participate in business development opportunities.
• Collaborate on financial improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and tax management roles.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems, including BlackLine, ERP platforms, and Concur.
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and intercompany accounts.
• Expertise in handling auditing and billing functions.
• Familiarity with ADP financial services.
• Ability to develop and implement tax-efficient strategies and manage tax-related projects.
• Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
