Job Title: Accounting Supervisor

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to lead and manage our accounting team. This role requires a professional with a strong accounting background to oversee various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.

Responsibilities

Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate direct reports.Perform a variety of regular and recurring accounting functions with professional competency.Supervise month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including general ledger account reconciliations.Oversee, reconcile, and generate monthly billing for members.Inform and advise other departments about the financial aspects of their responsibilities.Compile, prepare, and review journal entries and supporting documentation.Generate, review, analyze, and communicate financial data reflecting actual financial performance against approved budgets.Prepare various monthly and ad-hoc reports for management and committee analysis.Prepare and file monthly sales, liquor, admissions taxes reconciliation, and Maryland returns, including Form 1099 compliance and unclaimed property reporting.Review bi-weekly payroll and manage funding for the 401(k) Plan.Draft promissory notes for new members.Prepare workpapers for house accounts write-off and unearned revenues.Formulate, receive, and recommend policy proposals relating to accounting, auditing, budgeting, revenue and cost control procedures.Assist in the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, and monthly financial forecasts.Analyze financial information, monitor budgeted versus actual expenditures, and advise management about variances and potential causes.Recommend corrective actions to help assure that budget goals are met.Supervise and verify reports made to agencies and trade and professional organizations, ensuring consistency with policies.Assist in preparation for an annual audit of financial statements.

Essential Skills

College degree in accounting.CPA or CHAE certification preferred.Comprehensive knowledge of accounts receivable, billing, collections, accounts payable, and general ledger.Excellent accounting and customer service skills.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with members, guests, and staff.Prior supervisory experience with several years of progressive experience in an accounting department.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Proficiency in Northstar, CedarCreek, CS Fixed Assets, MS Office, ADP, and Qlik Sense.Sign and adhere to a confidentiality agreement.Professional appearance and attire.Ability to perform tasks requiring sustained repetitive motion and/or fine motor skills.

The role requires working in a professional office environment. Employees are expected to maintain a professional appearance and attire, adhering to the dress code.

This is a Permanent position based out of Lutherville Timonium, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $95000.00/yr.

Yes, 5% bonus, holiday bonus based on tenure, 10 days of PTO the first year with 15 days in year 3 and on, health insurance (club covers around 80% of the individual plan, life insurance, HSA contribution, lunch reimbursement up to $40/week, reimbursement for CPA or CHAE study materials and fees after passing.
