Description Job Title: Accounting Manager Location: Hamden, CT (On-site, 5 days / week with flexibility) Position Type: Full-Time / Permanent Recruiter Contact: Abby Harpp – abby.harpp@roberthalf Job Reference: AH0013369891 We are seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the accounting functions for a well-established, growing construction company with diverse commercial and residential projects. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional who can manage day-to-day operations, oversee job costing and reporting, and drive process improvements, all while partnering closely with project teams and executive leadership. Key Responsibilities: + Lead accounting operations: AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger + Manage month- and year-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations + Prepare timely, GAAP-compliant financial statements + Maintain internal controls and accounting policies + Oversee job costing, WIP, and project reporting + Partner with operations and finance on budgeting, forecasting, and planning + Coordinate audits, tax filings, and compliance + Drive process improvements to boost efficiency and accuracy + Ensure certified payroll, lien waiver, and AIA billing compliance + Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team Requirements Required Qualifications & Experience: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s and/or CPA a plus) + 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in Construction + Strong knowledge of GAAP + Deep understanding of Construction accounting practices, including job costing, WIP, retainage, progress billing, AIA billing, etc. + Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines + Strong communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with project managers, leadership, and external stakeholders If you meet the minimum requirements and want to learn more, please email your resume to abby.harpp@roberthalf and reference AH0013369891.
