Position Summary The Accounting Manager for the Parker Aerospace Commercial Flight Controls Division provides financial leadership to plant and program operations, ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting, strong internal controls, and actionable insights that improve performance. This role oversees the monthly close, cost accounting, inventory and manufacturing accounting, compliance, budgeting and forecasting, and team development. The Accounting Manager partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Program Management, Engineering, Quality, and Group Finance to drive margin, cash flow, and compliance objectives. + Location: Aerospace Manufacturing Division — North Ogden, UT + Reports to: Division Controller + Direct Reports: Cost/Staff Accountants; AP/AR + Work Arrangement: On-site with potential for a 9/80 alternative work schedule + Travel: 0-10% Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting and Close + Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes; prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses in accordance with US GAAP. + Ensure timely and accurate divisional reporting to Corporate (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, dashboards) and support external and internal audits. + Maintain policies and procedures aligned with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements; ensure segregation of duties and robust internal controls. Cost Accounting and Manufacturing Finance + BOM/routing integrity, overhead rate setting, burden allocations, and annual cost roll processes. + Analyze manufacturing variances (labor efficiency, material usage, purchase price variance, overhead absorption) and partner with Operations to drive corrective actions. + Manage inventory accounting including WIP, cycle counts, physical inventory, slow-moving/obsolete reserves, and inventory turns. + Support make/buy decisions, should-cost analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma) with quantifiable financial outcomes. Government Contract Accounting and Compliance + Maintain documentation and controls for export compliance (ITAR/EAR) and aerospace quality standards (AS9100). Planning, Forecasting, and Decision Support + Lead the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Long-Range Plan (LRP), and quarterly forecasts using driver-based models and scenario analysis. + Provide financial insights on program margins, backlog, cost-to-complete, and risk/opportunity tracking. + Support capital investment proposals (CapEx) with ROI/NPV analyses and post-investment reviews. Cash and Working Capital Management + Drive working capital improvements (DSO, DPO, inventory turns) in partnership with Operations, Supply Chain, and division leadership team. + Oversee AR risk reviews, credit and collections support, and AP payment cadence to optimize cash conversion cycle. Systems, Data, and Process Excellence + Serve as a key user for ERP and reporting tools + Champion process standardization, automation, and data integrity; lead system enhancements and user training. Leadership and Collaboration + Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team; set clear goals and performance metrics. + Facilitate cross-functional reviews; communicate financial results and drivers to leadership and plant teams. + Model ethics, accountability, and continuous improvement aligned with Parker’s values. Qualifications Required + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting + 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including strong manufacturing cost accounting. + 5+ years of leadership experience of an accounting team + Demonstrated proficiency with US GAAP, monthly close, account reconciliation, and financial statement analysis. + Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404 controls + Experience in a complex manufacturing environment + Hands-on inventory/WIP accounting and variance analysis + Strong Excel skills and proficiency with ERP systems and financial consolidation/reporting tools. + Proven leadership capability managing teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders. + Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Preferred + Master’s Degree + Experience in an Aerospace environment + Power BI or similar analytics tools. + Lean/Six Sigma certification or demonstrated participation in CI initiatives.
