Accounting Manager
Description Robert Half is the world's premier staffing agency specializing in finance and accounting placements. Our client in San Diego, CA is seeking a dynamic and experienced Accounting Manager to oversee their accounting operations, including team management and financial reporting. This is a high-impact leadership role that requires expertise in accounting practices and a history of delivering accurate and timely financial results. The Accounting Manager will lead a team of accounting professionals, oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, and serve as a key contributor to month-end closings, audits, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, technical accounting skills, and a strategic mindset to ensure alignment with the organization's financial goals. Key Responsibilities: + Manage and supervise the accounting team, providing leadership, coaching, and performance evaluations. + Oversee all general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management. + Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP. + Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met. + Monitor and analyze accounting data to identify trends and variances. + Maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with financial regulations and organizational policies. + Serve as the point of contact for audits and provide required documentation. + Work closely with senior leadership to support financial planning and decision-making. + Drive process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations. Requirements + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA designation strongly preferred. + 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role. + Advanced proficiency in accounting software such as NetSuite, SAP, or QuickBooks, and expertise in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, macros). + In-depth understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements. + Strong leadership abilities, effective communication skills, and exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications: + Experience managing a team in a multi-entity or multi-location environment. + Previous exposure to ERP implementations or financial system upgrades. + Familiarity with payroll and tax compliance processes.
