The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing staff and key functions to deliver streamlined, efficient, and that financial results are in compliance with GAAP. This includes improving processes relating to timely and accurate financial reporting, journal entries, reconciliations, and filings. This also includes collaborating with our restaurant operators and other departments to scale processes for growth.

Manage day-to-day process with staff accountantsProvide hands-on training and development plansCoach staff on technical accounting and leadership skills Collaborate with restaurant leaders and Area Directors to analyze fiscal period P&L resultsCollaborate with department leaders on initiatives that directly impact the accounting team’s processesManages fiscal period closes with the accounting team to ensure accurate, complete, and timely publishing of all financialsCritical key player in the Company’s rollout of new initiatives and systems as we scale for growth Key contributor on strategic projects to support enhanced accounting functions to support unit growthManage and ensure accountability of the team in day-to-day accounting operations activities, which includes close tasks (daily, weekly, monthly) and new restaurant opening support tasksReport and analyze financial reporting for restaurants, G&A, and pre-opening spendPrepare and review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations on a consistent periodic cadenceOversee bank reconciliation, revenue, and treasury activities to support cash flow forecastingManage lease accounting, fixed assets, insurance, debt, payroll accounting and other periodic accruals. Oversee and audit the company’s Expense Management platformResearch and communicate impact of changes in regulatory and GAAP accounting principlesEnsure all unearned revenue accounting practices are in complianceSupport, prepare, and review requests relating to the year-end audit and income tax filings.Oversee third party delivery data reconciliation and vendors. Drive accountability to update and/or create robust process documentation for the team’s tasks to ensure effective cross training Formalize and lead account balance reconciliation review cadence and clean up initiativesStreamline existing accounting processes and support technology rollouts to improve efficiency and ensure effective controlsCreate processes and reconcile accounts based on new initiatives Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency.WHY YOU'LL LOVE UPWARD PROJECTS

Bachelor’s Degree in AccountingMinimum of 5 years accounting experience, including audit, journal entries, financial reporting, and reconciliations Minimum 2 years accounting supervisory experienceExperience with streamlining, documenting, and flowcharting accounting proceduresProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Extensive knowledge of GAAP and ASCExtensive experience with payroll processing, recording, balancing, controls, and taxesCertified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferredRestaurant accounting experience preferredProficiency with Salary Description $95,000 to $105,00 base salary
