Accounting & Compliance Manager
Position purpose:
Make sure that the business model and intercompany interactions are sound and supportive of the optimal business practices. Play an important role in supporting future plans development, optimization of cash repartiation and adherence to the intercompany agreements. Guide global treasury on cash requirements for the USA business, with the goal of predictability and optimization of funding. Serve as an expert on controls environment and business ethics. Educate the business and monitor compliance to policies and controls requirements.
What will you do – responsibilities:
JTI Liggett business model governance
a. Intercompany flows monitoring, calculation of cross-charges, communication with the service center teams to ensure correct consolidation
b. Responsible for intercompany transactions being correctly reflected in the books
c. Liaison with direct tax team to exchange information in order to optimize business model
d. Support of cash repatriation
e. Business model maintenance according to Intercompany agreement
Maintain sound controls environment
a. Ensure JSOX and Segregation of duties compliance
b. Lead walkthroughs for all US entities
c. Educate the business on controls
d. Lead internal audit interactions with the global team as needed
e. Lead Enterprise Risk Management cycles to ensure that the relevant risks are identified and managed
f. Coordinate inventory counts as required by the control environment
g. Maintain correct signatories with Citibank as per entity governance documents
Local and global policy compliance
a. Regularly review local policies with the goal of balancing successful business practices with risk management measures
b. Educate employees on interpretation and application of local policies
c. Monitor the adherence to the policies;
Support functions in development of business proposals (BAP/Memo system)
a. Identify initiatives needing approval, work with initiating functions on narratives and questionnaires
b. Align proposals with the Regional team, global BAP team, local management;
Entity and cash forecasting
a. Work with the Finance Planning and Analysis Manager to forecast entity P&L and balance sheets for regular planning cycles
b. Develop and submit bi-weekly cash forecasts for the Global Treasur
Ensure adherence to the ethical standards and best practices of the controls environment
a. Stay on top of changes in standards and global ESG trends
b. Participate in global compliance projects;
