Accountant II
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant II to join our team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the organization's financial operations. This position offers an opportunity to collaborate across departments and contribute to the success of a dynamic business environment. Responsibilities: • Prepare and record monthly journal entries to facilitate the month-end closing process. • Reconcile various balance sheet accounts, including cash and bank statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance. • Maintain and review intercompany accounts, coordinating with relevant parties to resolve discrepancies. • Manage daily reconciliation of the company’s line of credit with the bank and provide regular reporting. • Assist with filing sales taxes and other regulatory documents across multiple jurisdictions. • Support the Senior Accountant with ad hoc projects and tasks as needed. • Provide documentation and assistance during annual audits and inquiries from taxing authorities. • Reconcile fixed asset subledgers, intercompany accounts, and other financial records with the general ledger. • Collaborate with branch personnel and management to address financial concerns and maintain accurate records. • Troubleshoot and maintain various accounting systems to ensure operational efficiency. Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required. • A minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience with attention to detail. • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential. • Strong understanding of general ledger, journal entries, and month-end close procedures. • Experience with accounting software such as JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and Sage software. • Demonstrated ability to reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts. • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to work with internal teams and external stakeholders.
