This contract Accountant / Controllership Assistant role supports a Capital Markets Controllership team by performing professional-level accounting activities focused on accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue processing, and balance sheet reconciliations. You will help maintain accurate ledgers and financial systems, support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes, and contribute to quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position offers exposure to a broad range of corporate accounting functions, the opportunity to work closely with dedicated AR and AP teams, and room for growth.
Responsibilities
Perform a variety of professional-level accounting duties, including preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling moderately complex financial transactions, statements, records, and reports.Maintain the accuracy and integrity of ledgers and financial systems in line with global controllership standards.Assist in processing revenue transactions in a timely manner, ensuring all required documentation is obtained to support appropriate revenue recognition.Assist in reconciling data between operating systems used for revenue transactions to ensure completeness and accuracy.Collaborate closely with the Accounts Receivable team to assign daily cash receipts accurately and promptly to the appropriate deals in the system.Maintain timely, accurate, and effective communication with deal teams regarding questions and issues related to cash collections.Manage the clearing of accounts receivable to ensure balances are current and properly recorded.Record month-end journal entries and provide support for monthly and quarterly financial statement analyses.Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner, escalating issues as necessary.Coordinate and collaborate with teams in other business lines to ensure intercompany transactions and fee shares are properly accounted for.Work with accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoice processing, financial, and general ledger activities as needed to support overall controllership functions.Utilize critical thinking skills to identify issues, propose solutions, and improve processes within the controllership function.Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and business partners to support internal and external client service.Manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work effectively under pressure, and prioritize workload to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules and deliverables.Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.3–5 years of accounting experience.Corporate accounting experience preferred, with exposure to general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.Advanced accounting and analytical skills, including experience with balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet applications, including intermediate functions such as VLOOKUP.Experience working with accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoice processing, financial reporting, and general ledger activities.Critical thinking skills to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and recommend solutions.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with deal teams, AR/AP teams, and other business partners.Demonstrated consistency in values, principles, and work ethic, with a strong sense of integrity and accountability.Ability to work independently and as part of a team, building strong relationships with internal stakeholders.Ability to multi-task, work successfully under pressure, and effectively prioritize time and workload to meet client needs and deadlines.Understanding of and commitment to providing high-quality internal and external client service.Desire to work within a diverse, collaborative, and driven professional environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential is a plus.Experience with PeopleSoft financial systems is a plus.Prior experience in capital markets, investment sales, acquisitions, debt placement, equity placement, or financing arrangements is beneficial.Experience working in a corporate controllership or similar financial control environment is preferred.Willingness to take on new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments as the role evolves.Work Environment
This is a contract position based in a professional corporate environment within a capital markets controllership team. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role follows a hybrid work model, with three days in the office (Tuesday through Thursday) and two days working from home or on a flexible basis. Onsite paid parking is available, with a daily rate applicable when arriving before 9:00 a.m. and leaving by 7:00 p.m.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $44.00 - $47.00/hr.
