Job Description
The Accountant will manage core accounting operations with a focus on accounts payable, cash receipts, payroll, and financial reporting. This role ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions, maintains job cost schedules, and supports the preparation of financial statements and standard reports. The position requires strong technical accounting skills, proficiency with Sage and Excel, and the ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
ResponsibilitiesManage core Accounts Payable functions, including preparing checks and issuing payments for approved invoices from subcontractors, vendors, associations, and trade publications.Record and track incoming funds, including check deposits and wire transfers, ensuring accurate and timely posting to the general ledger.Investigate billing discrepancies and collaborate with internal and external parties to resolve issues promptly and accurately.Review, process, and reconcile employee expense reports in accordance with company policies and procedures.Perform regular bank account reconciliations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with recorded transactions.Oversee company credit card activity, including monitoring charges and preparing monthly summaries of transactions.Maintain and update job cost schedules for assigned projects, ensuring that costs are accurately captured and reported.Prepare and distribute financial statements and standard accounting reports in a timely and accurate manner.Process payroll accurately and on schedule, ensuring compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.Ensure all accounting and financial deadlines are consistently met, proactively managing priorities and workload.Maintain workflow continuity by tracking tasks through completion and ensuring accountability for assigned responsibilities.Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work additional hours as needed to meet business requirements and critical deadlines.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.5+ years of experience in accounting.Strong proficiency in accounting principles and practices, including accounts payable, reconciliations, and payroll processing.Hands-on experience with Sage accounting software.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with spreadsheets and financial data.Proven ability to perform accurate bank reconciliations and maintain detailed financial records.Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and standard accounting reports.Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all financial transactions.Ability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in investigating and resolving billing discrepancies.Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with internal teams and external partners.Additional Skills & QualificationsCertified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is highly preferred.Experience overseeing company credit card programs and preparing monthly summaries of charges.Experience maintaining job cost schedules for multiple or complex projects.Demonstrated flexibility to work additional hours when necessary to meet business needs.Experience preparing and distributing standard accounting and financial reports for leadership review.Background working with expense report review and reconciliation in accordance with company policies.Work Environment
This is an on-site, full-time role based in St. Petersburg, with standard hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The position is structured as a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity, offering the chance to grow with a top employer in the theme park industry. The work environment is professional and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, accountability, and meeting deadlines. You will work primarily with Sage accounting software and Microsoft Excel, along with other standard office and accounting tools, in a collaborative office setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.05 - $38.46/hr.
