Job Title: AccountantJob Description We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. The role involves assisting in the preparation and maintenance of financial records, performing data entry, and supporting various financial processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and a keen attention to detail. This position offers the potential for growth into the Director of Accounting role. Responsibilities + Assist with the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including general ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations. + Perform data entry and maintain accurate documentation of all transactions in accordance with recordkeeping policies. + Support month-end and year-end closeout processes. + Prepare and submit journal entries with proper documentation and approval. + Review and verify accuracy of invoices, purchase orders, and other accounting documents. + Assist in preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders, including financial statements and audits. + Respond to inquiries from departments, vendors, and the public regarding financial matters. + Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with applicable statutes, policies, and financial regulations. + Support audit preparations by providing requested documentation and reports. + Exhibit a high level of professionalism and attention to detail. Essential Skills + General ledger management + Understanding of accounting principles (GAAP preferred) + Experience with accounts payable and receivable + Audit preparation and support + Reconciliation and journal entry proficiency + Familiarity with fund accounting or governmental accounting systems + Proficient in Microsoft Excel + Excellent communication skills, both oral and written + Good interpersonal skills and team collaboration + Accurate keyboarding and data entry skills Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in accounting with a desire to obtain a master's degree + CPA license preferred or willingness to obtain + 1-2 years of experience in accounting; governmental accounting experience is a plus Work Environment The position is based in an office environment with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm. Initial training will be conducted in-office, with the possibility of transitioning to a hybrid work model for the right candidate. The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and may involve extended hours during audits or fiscal year closeouts. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Yeehaw, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $75000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
