Job Description
This role manages the planning and direction of complex activities related to maintaining ledger accounts and financial statements. The Accounting Analyst III prepares, records, analyzes, and reports accounting transactions with limited guidance, using sound judgment to select effective solutions to complex problems. The position provides functional advice, training, and mentorship to less experienced accountants, supports leadership with timely and accurate financial information, and ensures compliance with relevant requirements and regulations. The role also focuses on identifying and implementing process improvements through technology and automation to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
ResponsibilitiesManage and perform complex activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and financial statements.Prepare, record, analyze, and report accounting transactions with limited direction.Perform assigned month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, management reporting, SEC reporting, and variance analysis.Prepare, maintain, and develop schedules, reports, and analyses for internal and external customers.Provide requested documentation and clear, well-supported explanations for audit processes.Process and analyze significant volumes of financial data, including complex issues and transactions.Ensure financial information complies with applicable requirements, regulations, and accounting standards.Provide functional advice, training, and mentorship to less experienced accounting staff.Participate in small projects with minimal guidance and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.Identify opportunities to optimize business processes through technology and automation to improve efficiency and reduce costs.Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and support leadership decision-making with accurate financial insights.Perform other related accounting and reporting duties as assigned.Essential SkillsMinimum of four (4) years of accounting experience in the energy industry.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related major with a strong accounting focus.Solid experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.Demonstrated proficiency in month-end close activities, including journal entries and variance analysis.Experience with financial reporting and financial statement preparation.Knowledge of revenue accounting processes, including revenue cycle activities.Ability to prepare and support audit documentation and respond to audit inquiries.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of financial acumen.Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.Strong interpersonal and communication skills to support cross-functional collaboration.Commitment to safety as a top priority in daily work.Additional Skills & QualificationsFamiliarity with US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) is preferred.Revenue accounting experience is preferred.CPA certification is preferred.Experience working in a FERC-regulated company is preferred.Experience supporting SEC reporting is beneficial.Ability to use mature judgment to select alternative solutions to complex accounting problems.Demonstrated ability to mentor and train less experienced accounting professionals.Comfort working with large data sets and complex transactions.Strong ability to identify and implement process improvements through technology and automation.Work Environment
This is a hybrid role with a structured weekly schedule. The position requires working on-site Monday through Thursday, with the option to work from home on Friday. Standard hours are 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with core hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The work environment is professional and collaborative, with regular interaction across departments and teams. You will use standard office technology and Microsoft Office applications to perform analytical and reporting tasks. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
