Job Title: Accountant

Salary: £47,600 to £50,000 (depending on experience)

Location: Wimborne

Caterpillar Marine Power UK is part of Caterpillar Oil, Gas and Marine Division. The company designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to C7.1L Cat® and Perkins marine engines and gensets.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an Accountant within the Accounting Team at our Caterpillar facility in Wimborne, reporting directly to the Business Manager.

The role is diverse providing you great exposure to wide variety of accounting disciplines to support the Business Manager with legal entity and manufacturing accounting, forecasting plus enterprise profitability analysis

You will support the Sales and Production functions as well as the Engineering team and advise these teams on a variety of financial analysis and costing activities

Effective business partnering will be key directly working with departmental managers and their teams, as well as and other stakeholders from the wider business.

What You Will Do:

Business Partnering with the departmental managers, in particular Commercial Manager and Engineering Manager providing financial expertise, data and analysis to support effective decision making.

Costing: ownership of calculating and analysing manufacturing plant cost for the facility, to identify and advise areas for improvement.

Business Planning and Forecasting: supporting the Business Manager is generating annual business plans and rolling forecasts

Incorporation of data analytics utilizing Power BI to create an interactive reporting

Supporting the Business Manager with legal entity and corporate accounting

Presenting analysis to Senior Leaders and non-financial audiences

What Skills You Have:

Financial Analysis and Problem Solving: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis and problem solving. Level Working Knowledge:

Ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.

Apply knowledge of manufacturing costing, analysing to enable decision making within the business

Problem solving to diverse situations, providing solutions to resolve.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision. Level Extensive Experience:

Processing large quantities of detailed information with high levels of accuracy

Demonstrates expertise in quality assurance tools, techniques and standards

Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems. Level Working Knowledge:

Approaches a situation or problem by defining the problem or issue and determining its significance

Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions


Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviours.

Education/Experience: Educated to a degree level or qualified by experience. Professional Certification (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)

Candidates may also have gained the following skills:

Experienced user of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint

Experience of data analytics and visualisation tools such as MS PowerBI

Experience of accounting within a manufacturing environment

Experience of SAP or equivalent ERP system would advantageous
