Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR
An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Assists in the training of member agency personnel on the agency contribution reporting process and application of related rules, regulations, laws, and procedures.
+ Communicates with agencies regarding discrepancies between reports and contributions remitted for any reporting period.
+ Process and update member records for contributions received. Verify all data for correctness and ensure that data is correctly posted in the system. This can also include the spreading of “retro” payments.
+ Communicating with agencies and members to verify member data and earnings.
+ Analyzing member earnings and invoicing for overpayments.
Position-Specific Details:
LASERS requires all new hires to serve a minimum of eighteen (18) months not to exceed twenty-four (24) months in probational status including permanent state employees.

Compensation:
The Accountant 1 position has a Special Entrance Rate of $44,990.40 /annually
The Accountant 2 position has a Special Entrance Rate of $48,131.20 /annually
The Accountant 3 position has a Special Entrance Rate of $55,120.00 /annually
Career Progression: As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Accountant 1, Accountant 2, or Accountant 3 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. The maximum salary for the Accountant 3 is $96,533 .
