ABH Coordinator, M-F, 8:30AM-4:30PM, Newton Medical Center, NJ
Description: The ABH Coordinator for the Psychiatric Emergency Screening Service at Newton Medical Center and the Crisis Program at Hackettstown Medical Center is responsible for overseeing and supervising the operations of both clinical programs. The position is responsible for the operations of clinical teams at both hospital campuses. The role provides clinical oversight, operational management, personnel development, coordination of community services and assists departmental leadership with strategic and financial initiatives. The position ensures 24-hour operational integrity of the unit in accordance with state regulations and the best practices for screening and crisis. Job Functions: 01. Ensures 24-hour operational integrity: a. Maintains staffing ratios and schedules in accordance with state regulations throughout all shifts. b. Develops and maintains mobile crisis response and mobile follow-ups in conjunction with appropriate community and law enforcement requests c. Reviews and approves payroll requirements for the department e. Provide administrative on-call services as needed f. Maintains workflows and team member assignments g. Provides direct patient intervention when needed 02. Supervise and evaluate team member performance: a. Develop and maintain a documentation review and education process b. Implement a team member competency training plan c. Monitor team member progress towards all required certification education and system education requirements d. Completes all team member performance evaluations, team member development needs and reviews e. Conduct supervision related to assessment, patient/collateral interaction and disposition planning 03. Quality and Performance Improvement: a. Collaborate with service line leadership to design, implement, monitor and report on both quality and performance initiatives for the departments b. Author and present at QI/PI engagements c. Develop monitoring processes to retain compliance with regulatory, state and programmatic standards d. Complete all required regulator, grant, state and program reporting e. Update and complete all required grant, financial and program reporting requirements in collaboration with the Service Line Manager and Director. f. Conducts system, county and programmatic meeting reviews in accordance with regulatory and program requirements 04. Policy, guideline and procedure development: a. Collaborates with departmental leadership, including the Director, Service Line Manager and additional Crisis Coordinators to develop, author and implement departmental, and service line polices, guidelines and procedures b. Ensures policies, guidelines and procedures meet the standards for screening and crisis as defined in the administrative standards, regulatory bodies and system policies c. Implement a monitoring process to update and submit all required policy and procedure submissions as needed 05. Coordination of community services a. Formulate and maintain all affiliation agreements with community partners in association with the Service Line Manager and Director. b. Maintain productive collaborative relationships with community partners c. Assist and conduct community facing education initiatives as needed d. Maintain collaborative relationships with police departments and law enforcement e. Organizes and facilitates county and intercounty review committees f. Attends state and county sponsored committees and meetings in coordination with the Service Line Manager and regulatory requirements 06. Multidisciplinary team relationships: a. Maintain interdepartmental relationships with medical providers, medical leadership, nursing, nursing leadership, social work, security and all related disciplines b. Collaborates with the Service Line Manager and Director to develop and maintain interdepartmental workflows, integrity of patient care needs and complete reviews c. Participates in service line, departmental and site committees in coordination with the Service Line Manager and Director d. Coordinate with inpatient psychiatric units pertaining to patient care needs, process improvement and 07. Budgetary and financial responsibilities: a. Collaborates with Service Line Manager and Director to plan and propose departmental budgets b. Coordinates with Service Line Manager and Director to maintain departmental operations in relation to budgetary guidelines and financial initiatives c. Maintains all required reporting needs for philanthropy funded positions, including completion of financial reports and business plans in coordination with the Service Line Manager and Director d. Actively works with the Service Line Manager and Director regarding coding, billing and charges for the department 08. Patient Care: a. Collaborate with Risk Management and Health Information Management pertaining to all patient concerns in coordination with the Service Line Manager and Director b. Complete direct patient and family intervention and debriefings c. Assist direct care team with patient needs, dispositions and collateral needs d. Provide education and direction to the care team, inpatient unit and additional sites pertaining to the admission process, evaluation process and involuntary process e. Provide direct patient care including assessments, de-escalation, collateral/family contact and disposition planning as needed. 09. Education: a. Assist with community and interagency educational requests in coordination with service line leadership, community partner needs and regulatory requirements b. Complete system and site in-service education and learning initiatives for clinical and non-clinical teams as requested and reviewed with the Service Liner Manager and Director c. Complete community educational initiatives for various agencies and age ranges in coordination with service line leadership Required: Masters or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related filed; LAC or LSW in addition to 3 + years of supervisory experience in screening/crisis.
