Overview:
The Global Supply Chain (GSC) team of Caterpillar’s Retail Electric Power Division (REPS) is centrally responsible for the Order to Delivery of products out of 8 global facilities. We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical 6 Sigma Black Belt to lead and support key initiatives across inventory optimization, S&OP, and supply chain operations. In this role, you will drive efficiency improvements through strong project management practices and data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in inventory optimization, supply chain planning, and data analytics to deliver impactful results across cross-functional teams. This is an independent contributor role reporting to the Global Supply Chain Manager of the REPS division.
Responsibilities:
Independently lead and manage end-to-end supply chain projects, ensuring timely execution, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with business goals.
Analyze supply chain performance metrics (inventory turnover, order accuracy, lead time, etc.) and develop actionable insights.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to optimize inventory levels and supply chain efficiency.
Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, or Tableau.
Monitor inventory trends and variances to identify improvement opportunities and reduce drive right inventory to system and reduce excess and obsolete stock.
Standardize processes and implement best practices for demand forecasting, order management, and replenishment planning.
Coordinate with stakeholders to define project scope, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation.
Use data modeling and scenario analysis to support decision-making on procurement strategies, vendor performance, and logistics planning.
Prepare project documentation, status reports, and post-implementation evaluations.
Background/Experience (Required):
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, or related field. Masters preferred.
• 8–10 years of experience in supply chain management, inventory control, or project management roles.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex, cross-functional projects.
• Strong knowledge of supply chain concepts, including inventory management, demand planning, supply planning, procurement, and logistics.
• Proficient in data analytics tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau).
• Experience with ERP/CRM systems such as SAP and Salesforce.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• PMP, APICS (CPIM/CSCP), or Six Sigma certification highly desired.
Background/Experience (Desired):
• Experience in a fast-paced, global supply chain or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with automation tools and process improvement frameworks.
• Ability to lead changes and influence stakeholders across different levels.
