OVERVIEW:
The 3D Space Artist is responsible for driving in-store sales through the consistent application of the DSG brand point of view - as it relates to store, fixturing, shop design and product placement - utilizing 3D renderings, virtual walkthroughs and other developing technologies to create digital content for senior executive review. The position is a design liaison between Visual Merchandising/Merchants, Store Planning/Construction and Marketing for DSG environmental conceptualization, ensuring consistency to keep DSG at the forefront of the marketplace.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Design Presentations, Renderings & Virtual Walkthroughs
• Help drive store success through development of consistent, photorealistic 3d renderings, walkthroughs and design presentations for new store designs, department product placement, shop-in-shop designs, and fixture design initiatives for all Dick’s Sporting Goods brands.
• Consistently delivers all creative content on time and as directed within technical requirements - outlined by manager and internal clients – for senior executive presentation.
• Assists Sr 3D Specialist with all assigned design work; proactively seeks out opportunities to help other 3D Artists.
• Develop design presentation packets using Adobe InDesign as needed; combine renderings, hand sketches and other content to deliver comprehensive design direction for assigned projects.
• Depending on exact role, creates and maintains for each Dick’s Sporting Goods brand either store prototype and location-specific 3D architectural models or department-specific overviews and merchandise Strike Point studies.
• Assist in creation and maintenance of texture libraries; accurate, resource-efficient, detail-oriented 3d models for store fixtures and products, keeping their usage for various media outputs in mind (mid to low-poly).
• Always adheres to standards developed by 3d Viz team – organization, file types, naming conventions, color, and lighting standards, etc.
• Contributes to design process with internal designers and outside design firms for new store concepts, department redesigns, shop-in-shop, merchandise fixture designs, and special projects - developing design options and concepts for review.
• Assists facilitation of design development and implementation of DSG standards into future concepts.
• Contribute to the creation of private label brands and their subsequent shop development; aid in building vendors within the DSG store environment while preserving DSG brand identity.
Drive & Development
• Aims to learn working-knowledge of multiple categories owned by Sr. 3D Strategist, eventually mastering one.
• Learn all current 3D Team technologies; research and learn new technologies to propel 3D Team forward.
• Help identify and troubleshoot glitches in design software as a means of personal development.
• Assist in creation of how-to videos and guides for teammate software & process training; helps to cross-train other teammates in their areas of expertise.
• Problem-solve on the fly; seek out information and solutions from multiple sources to provide supervisor.
• Stay informed of design and technology trends as they evolve, providing to supervisor/manager as needed.
• Depending on specific role, attend prototype & location-specific store design reviews with internal designers and outside firms, or merchandising Line Reviews with Visual Merchandisers and Merchants.
• Occasionally assist with seasonal store sets; learn of merchandising, store design & store operations to aid daily design work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in Media Arts & Animation/Game Design (or related), Interior/Industrial Design required
1-3 years professional experience with 3d Rendering, Modeling, Texturing & Lighting
Technology Requirements:
Autodesk 3ds Max & Corona Renderer (Required)
Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects (Required)
Marvelous Designer; Unreal Engine; Twinmotion (Preferred)
Autodesk Revit & AutoCAD; Sketchup (Preferred)
Other 3d Content Creation Software/Renderers a bonus (Zbrush, Substance Designer, Vray, etc)
Knowledge of render farm operation principles (Bonus)
