Job Description

Drug Metabolism, Pharmacokinetics and Modeling (DMPK&M) is a group within the Quantitative Pharmacology and Translational Sciences function responsible for supporting drug discovery and development


How You Will Contribute:

As a PBPK Modeling Intern, under supervision, you will have the opportunity to…

Sharpen skills in PBPK modeling software like Simcyp and GastroPlus

Collaborate with DMPK&M colleagues to identify data requirements for model development, and strategies for model application and use

Apply modeling for prediction of drug-drug interactions (DDI)
 

Internship Development Opportunities:

Practice and improve presentation skills

Learn modeling approaches to solve problems in drug development
 

Job Requirements:

This position will be hybrid (1-3 days in office), out of the Cambridge, MA location

Must be enrolled in a Ph.D program in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, quantitative pharmacology, clinical pharmacology, toxicology, pharmacometrics, biomedical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences or another related field.

Must have prior experience with PBPK modeling (Simcyp preferred).

Be acquainted with standard techniques of model training, validation, and characterization.

Strong training and understanding of the concepts of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics of small molecules, biochemical aspects of drug metabolism enzymes and transporters, and various in vitro assays conducted to assess DDI potential

Track record of publication and / or conference presentations

Exceptional interpersonal, verbal communication and writing skills

Good organizational and planning skills

Proven record of accomplishment of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative, and integrity

Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills

Global mindset to grow in a diverse work environment
 

Internship Eligibility 

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship 

Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later 

The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)  

The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames  

Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates  

Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.  The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
