Job Description

The Global Structural Biology group utilizes protein production, biophysics and structural biology methods (cryoEM and crystallography) to drive small molecule and biologics pipeline programs in every Drug Discovery Unit (GI2, Oncology and Neuroscience)  

The Global Structural Biology intern will work with experts across all disciplines in Global Structural Biology (protein production, biophysics, structural biology) and gain an understanding of execution of individual targets within these disciplines as well as the impact of the efforts on drug discovery.  

 

How You Will Contribute: 

Duties may include the following, under the manager's supervision 

Execute protein production activities (expression and purification of protein targets, complex formation, etc) 

Run biophysical experiments including, but not limited to SPR, DLS, DSF, etc. 

Set up crystallization trays using crystallization workcell and prepare crystals for data collection 

Prepare grid samples for cryoEM data collection 

Internship Development Opportunities: 

The intern will collaborate closely with multiple experts within Global Structural Biology to and understand how the groups collaborate to enable support of pipeline programs 

Gain laboratory experience across mulitple techiques 

A basic understanding of the impact of structural biology on different pipeline modalities and programs 
 

Job Requirements: 

Must be pursuing a Bachelors ​degree in a related field

A foundational knowledge of proteins and protein structure 

This position requires full-time commitment, necessitating five days of on-site work at the Cambridge site 

Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a collaborative team member. 

Comfortable working in a laboratory environment and including work in biosafety hoods 

Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate for BL2 safety levels, such as safety glasses, gloves, closed toe shoes, etc. 

Internship Eligibility  

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship  

Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later  

The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)   

The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames   

Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates   

Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.  The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
