Job Description

The automation engineering team supports the Lexington, MA manufacturing facility as system owner of several operational technology systems including the Process Control System that controls the process equipment used in the manufacturing of our biologic therapies and the Building Management System that controls the building utilities including HVAC, water and steam systems used to support the manufacturing process. 

The automation engineering intern will work with the automation engineering team supporting our systems through daily troubleshooting of events on the manufacturing floor, routine system administration activities and designing and implementing changes to improve the operation of the control systems we own. One project that will be core to the intern’s role will be to convert the Graphics interface from Delta V operate to Delta V live. This work will expose the candidate to Delta V programming and require that the individual learn how the unit operation functions to ensure that the graphic interface is both intuitive and functions as expected by the manufacturing end user


How You Will Contribute: 

As an Automation Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to… 

Support the front-line support engineers responding to incidents on the manufacturing floor – triaging and investigating issues with the operation of our control systems. 

Perform routine system administration activities like, User access reviews, Audit Trail reviews, and Backup and Restore Operations. 

Assisting senior developers by testing of logic program changes to improve the operation of the system. 

Work with senior engineers to design and program solutions to identified areas for improvement. 
 

Internship Development Opportunities: 

The intern will get an introduction into the field process controls engineering in a Biologics Manufacturing Facility. 

The role will provide an introduction into the process steps used in manufacturing a biological therapy 

The role will provide an introduction into working in a regulated industry, understanding the documentation, testing and change management processes required for Good Manufacturing Process. 

Job Requirements: 

This position will be Hybrid (3 days/week in office out of the Lexington, MA location 

Must be pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Chemical, Biomedical, or Electrical Engineering  

 

Internship Eligibility  

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship  

Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later  

The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)   

The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames   

Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates   

Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.  The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

 

U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:
