2026 Summer Intern: Software Engineer

You’re a motivated rising senior student with a 3.0 GPA or higher seeking a degree in one of the following areas listed below from an accredited college or university:Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology Management, Information Science, Information TechnologyThis is a full-time, 10-week program designed to give you real-world experience working within the telecommunications industry in your field of choice.Internship program runs from May 27 through July 31, 2026.In addition to the role-based projects you’ll work on, you’ll also participate in professional development sessions, networking opportunities, and have access to a mentor.

The Spectrum Internship Experience

What you can expect in this role 

As a Spectrum intern, you’ll spend the summer working alongside two teams — your respective department and your intern peer group. Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference on May 27th, webinars, community service, cross-functional projects, and final presentations.

Internship responsibilities may include

Collaborate with experienced team members to contribute to software development projectsApply object-oriented programming skills to create efficient and robust codeGain hands-on experience with Java and contribute to the development of Java-based applicationsPerform thorough unit testing for requirements and code coverage Participate in code reviews Gain Experience working in DevOps modelPerform analysis/investigation to determine root cause of identified code/data issuesDevelop and maintain technical documentation Participate in continuous performance improvement sessions to discuss opportunities to improve processes or standards

Required qualifications

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University graduating with a bachelor’s degree between December 2026 - May 2027Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current programAbility to travel locally to Spectrum intern development events and activities throughout the programAuthorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship
