Entering this domain positions you at the heart of IBM, where growth and innovation thrive. **Your role and responsibilities** Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Research group is looking for motivated researchers interested in working at the intersection of storage, AI, and Quantum computing. The intern would be part of the team that would be building the next generation storage systems to address the needs of Agentic AI and Quantum computing workloads. We look for entrepreneurial candidates interested in conducting the full industrial research cycle - from ideation and design to prototyping the solution to demonstrate the benefits leading to scientific publication(s) and IP protection. **Required technical and professional expertise** * Strong system design skills; Software systems, storage, and platforms building experience * Programming languages: C++, C, Golang, Python, Rust, Shell * Linux user-space or kernel development * Software development tools (e.g., git) and processes (e.g., code review) **Preferred technical and professional experience** * Distributed systems and data storage; file, block, or object storage; cloud infrastructure * Cloud-native and container technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, Application Containerization, Operators * Basic understanding of LLM training and inference, experience w/ vLLM * Programming for GPUs, TPUs, and other host-attached ML accelerators * System measurement and performance analysis skills * Networking: overlay, underlay, local, wide-area IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
