As an Analyst in Municipal Public Finance, you’ll collaborate with experienced bankers to help state and local governments build our nation’s infrastructure and bring transformational projects to life — from transportation to energy and utilities to education to housing and to healthcare. Your work will span financial modeling, credit rating preparation, investor presentations, RFPs, and the drafting of securities offering documents. The environment is fastmoving, intellectually challenging, and mission-driven — perfect for curious self-starters who want to see their efforts make a tangible difference. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities of an Analyst:** • Understand Government Financing: You’ll get to know how cities, states, and public institutions finance new initiatives and projects, analyzing their finances and figuring out ways they can improve. • Pitch Creative Financing Ideas: You’ll help senior bankers brainstorm new ways local governments can fund big projects, like building utilities, airports, schools, hospitals, or transit systems. • Build Financial Models: You'll dive into Excel to create financial simulations, helping forecast costs, savings, and repayment strategies for public projects. • Research Your Sector: Stay updated on news, reports, and trends in your assigned industries and geographies, and keep the team informed about anything that might affect clients. • Execute Deals: During financings, you’ll help analyze project revenues, create debt profiles, and assess refinancing and cash flow, all to make sure the financing makes sense. • Prepare Client Presentations: Develop marketing skills by assisting in preparation of pitch books and proposals (RFPs) that help win business and communicate key information to clients. • Develop Marketing Materials: Help design content that explains the deal or investment opportunity to prospective buyers and investors. • Join Client Meetings: When possible, you’ll participate in meetings with municipal clients and project sponsors to learn firsthand how deals come together and how relationships are built. **Knowledge of/Interests In:** • Fundamental investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry. • Financial markets and products. • Quantitative financial analysis and data modeling. • Public policy **Skills:** • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills sufficient to recognize and detect errors and offer resolution. • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to all level of associates and clients. • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. **Ability to:** • Analyze financial statements and outstanding debt. • Develop the financial structure and prepare documents related to the public issuance or private placement of securities. • Multi‐task and work in a fast‐paced, team‐oriented environment. • Efficiently manage time and resources to solve quantitative and analytical challenges as they arise. • Work under pressure created by time deadlines and work volume fluctuations. • Communicate both orally and in writing, within all levels of the organization as well as external clients and other industry professionals. • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. • Work outside normal 8:00 am – 5:00 pm business hours. **Educational Requirements:** • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, math or a related field. • 0‐3 years of related experience. **Licenses/Certifications:** • FINRA Securities Industry Exam (SIE), Series 52 License, Series 63 License, and Series 50 License within (12) months of hire **Location: Dana Point, CA**
